Makhachev's entrance music is HEY MAMA - David Guetta ft Nicki Minaj & Afrojack. A fine choice. Islam Makhachev has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aleksander Baris!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baris gets a takedown into half guard.
Baris controlling the action here.

Baris wants to pass to mount but Makhachev is defending the position.
Makhachev has hold of Baris's hands but Baris slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makhachev is trying to stand up here but Baris is controlling him well.
Baris seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Baris looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Baris slips a nice elbow through Makhachev's hands, connecting with Makhachev's forehead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Baris closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Makhachev tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Makhachev bucks up and throws Baris to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Makhachev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Baris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Makhachev leaves Baris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Baris gets tackled into the cage by Makhachev. Makhachev maintains the clinch.
Makhachev lands a shoulder strike.
Baris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Makhachev fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Baris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Islam Makhachev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aleksander Baris.
Baris shoots in but no luck this time.
Aleksander Baris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Baris tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Makhachev defends well and Baris ends up having to push Makhachev into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Baris shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Makhachev pushes Baris off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Makhachev manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Still in the clinch, Makhachev scores with a nice short uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Baris is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Baris is trying to drag Makhachev to the mat but Makhachev just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Makhachev pushes Baris back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Baris has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Makhachev avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Makhachev pushes Baris against the cage. Makhachev is working some dirty boxing. Makhachev pushes off with a quick right hook! Baris goes down! Baris tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Makhachev moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Islam Makhachev!
