Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elmer Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymann Eijk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elmer Holt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elmer Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raymann Eijk!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holt takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Eijk scores with a takedown into Holt's guard.

Holt manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Eijk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Eijk wants to clinch up but Holt keeps it at a distance.

Eijk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Eijk showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Holt pushes Eijk off looking to stand but Eijk dives back in and keeps control.

Holt is looking to escape.
Eijk is pressing down on Holt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Holt is holding on for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Holt tries to sprawl but Eijk drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Eijk tries to pass to full mount but Holt defends it.
Holt is trying to stand up here but Eijk is controlling him well.
Eijk is looking to pass Holt's guard but actually Holt recovers to full guard.

Holt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eijk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Eijk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Holt is proving hard to escape from.

Holt pushes Eijk off and gets back to his feet.

Holt fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Eijk to the ground. Holt is now in Eijk's guard.
Holt postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Holt trying to control the position from guard on top but Eijk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Holt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Eijk is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eijk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Holt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Eijk has a closed guard, preventing Holt from standing up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Eijk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Eijk manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Holt on his heels. He'll look to pass Holt's guard now, I'm sure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Elmer Holt will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Eijk throws a lazy head kick

and Holt counters by moving into the clinch.
Holt is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Eijk is defending well.
Holt tries for a takedown but Eijk manages to get underhooks.
Holt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eijk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elmer Holt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Eijk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Holt is controlling him.

Eijk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Holt lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Holt is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Holt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Eijk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Holt.
Eijk is trying to maintain the position but Holt is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Holt stands up out of the half guard.

Eijk closes the distance and clinches.

Eijk drags the fight down to the ground.
Holt wants to stand and escape but instead Eijk has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Holt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Holt tries to stand and escape but Eijk is controlling the position.
Holt trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Eijk is looking for a sweep. Holt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Holt lands strikes from half guard.

Holt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Holt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Eijk moves into full guard.

Holt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Holt wants to get up but he can't break Eijk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Holt gets to his feet. Eijk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Elmer Holt will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Eijk closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

As Eijk tries to get set, Holt tries to push him back and clinch up but Eijk manages to avoid the attempt.

Eijk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eijk lands in his opponent's guard.

Holt has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Eijk is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Eijk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Holt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eijk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Raymann Eijk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Eijk closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Eijk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Holt, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
