Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Mehoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James O Neill !
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Mehoff scores with a four punch combination!
Mehoff misses with a double jab
letting O Neill counter with a right hand.
O Neill throws a combination that misses
and Mehoff counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mehoff lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Mehoff falls off balance throwing a combination

and O Neill counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

O Neill is trying to work for a kimura but Mehoff is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O Neill wants to take a breather but Mehoff is having none of it.

O Neill is taking a breather. Mehoff says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mehoff on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mehoff tries to get out of the position.

O Neill is working for a submission of some sort.

O Neill in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mehoff tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from O Neill !

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James O Neill !
James O Neill decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
