The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves shoots in and drives through. Motta sprawls well.
Alves's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Motta connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alves scrambles back to his feet.
A combination from Motta does no damage.
Leonardo Motta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Motta throws a nice looking combination but Alves bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alves dives in for a single leg takedown but Motta sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Motta closes the distance and clinches.
Motta makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Alves is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Alves keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Motta's efforts to push away.

A frustrated look appears on Alves's face as he tries to break the clinch.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Motta.
Alves misses with a hook from the clinch.
Motta lands with a right to the head.
Motta will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Alves up against the cage.

Motta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Leonardo Motta is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alves is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Motta takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Alves gets tackled into the cage by Motta. Motta maintains the clinch.

Motta makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Motta lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Alves trying to control the position but instead, Motta has worked for underhooks and has pushed Alves into the cage.
Alves is trying to pull guard but Motta has him pressed against the cage.

Alves tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Motta lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Alves is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Motta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Motta is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Alves gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Motta counters with a crisp right that sends Alves to the canvas! Motta follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
