Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zlatan Arshavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zlatan Arshavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arshavin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Arshavin is in Jackson's guard.
Jackson pulls Arshavin in close to prevent any damage.
Jackson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jackson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Arshavin defends it easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson controls Arshavin momentarily but Arshavin frees himself.
Arshavin throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson wants to control but Arshavin is keeping him busy.
Arshavin is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jackson working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Arshavin's thigh. Arshavin counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Arshavin pulls Jackson in close to his closed guard and prevents Jackson from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson won't allow Arshavin to sweep him here.

Arshavin lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Arshavin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arshavin is looking to stand up but Jackson won't let him.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Arshavin landing with the ground and pound.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing Arshavin from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jackson goes for a double leg but Arshavin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Arshavin continues to drive forward.
Jackson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Arshavin throws a body kick that misses.
Arshavin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Arshavin gets slowly back to his feet.
Jackson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Arshavin defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson throws a head kick but Arshavin moves out of range.
Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Arshavin changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Jackson pushes Arshavin up against the cage in a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jackson successfully pulls guard.
Arshavin trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Arshavin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Arshavin slows the pace down.
Jackson is not content to let Arshavin control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jackson tries to improve position but can't.
Arshavin throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Jackson tries to buck Arshavin off but Arshavin is having none of it.
Jackson is trying to control Arshavin's posture but Arshavin avoids it.
Arshavin wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Arshavin lands some shots froms side control.
Jackson dodges the ground and pound from Arshavin.

Arshavin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jackson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Arshavin but great work by Jackson.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Arshavin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Arshavin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Arshavin is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jackson is controlling him well.
Jackson throws an elbow but Arshavin slips to the side and avoids it well.
Jackson throwing strikes but Arshavin manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Zlatan Arshavin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Arshavin is dominant here and he's now got Jackson's back!
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arshavin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jackson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Arshavin's guard. Nice work there by Jackson.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Arshavin doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Jackson paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Arshavin - great work!
