The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saunders is defended easily by Hombre.

Saunders bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Saunders just content to control the position.

Saunders tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Saunders has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saunders tries for a kimura but Hombre is defending well.
Saunders fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Saunders wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hombre, who protects the arm well.
Hombre is looking for a sweep.
Saunders grinds an elbow into Hombre's temple.
Hombre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hombre wants to control but Saunders postures up.
Hombre is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saunders throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Saunders happy to just control the position for now.
Hombre tries to bench press Saunders off him but Saunders keeps the position.

Saunders is working to tighten his grip on Hombre's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hombre has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Saunders is really squeezing tight and eventually Hombre passes out! Saunders breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Post fight, an emotional Lazarus Saunders said 'I respect my opponent, But losses comes and goes, I just hope he rises over it and come back a stronger fighter.'.
