Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aurelio Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Lumneer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aurelio Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rod Lumneer!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lumneer jabs at Rivera's body.
Lumneer connects with a crisp jab.
Lumneer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A low kick from Lumneer is predictable there

and Rivera counters with a single leg into guard. Lumneer didn't expect that.

Lumneer has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rivera is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lumneer lands a takedown into guard.
Lumneer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rivera can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lumneer controls the pace.

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rivera trying to keep a closed guard but Lumneer is proving a slippery customer.
Lumneer stands and throws Rivera's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rivera struggling a bit here.

Lumneer stands up.
Rivera tries to close the distance and clinch but Lumneer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rivera takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Lumneer lands with a good body shot.

Lumneer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lumneer wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
Lumneer stays in close to Rivera's body and controls the position.

Rivera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lumneer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lumneer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lumneer engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Rivera tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lumneer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lumneer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rod Lumneer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lumneer throws a sloppy head kick and Rivera moves out of range easily.

Lumneer looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Lumneer sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Lumneer pushes down on Rivera's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Lumneer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Rivera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lumneer pulls his head out easily.
Lumneer wants to free his trapped foot but Rivera is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rivera is holding on to half guard well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lumneer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rivera napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rivera is not content to let Lumneer control the position.

Rivera managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Lumneer.

Lumneer decides to stand back up. Lumneer steps back and let's Rivera get back to his feet.
Lumneer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Poor strikes thrown by Lumneer there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rivera wants to hold on but Lumneer pushes him away.
Rivera holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lumneer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lumneer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Rivera tries to hold on but Lumneer postures up.
Lumneer content just to control the position here.
Lumneer looking to control but Rivera is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lumneer controlling the pace for now.
Rivera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lumneer thowing shots but they're missing.

Lumneer unloads with some shots from mount but Rivera bucks and avoids them well.
Lumneer controlling the pace for now.
Rivera is working to get back to half guard.
Lumneer looking to control but Rivera is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lumneer avoids the attempt from Rivera to control.
Lumneer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Lumneer tries to control but Rivera wriggling away.

Lumneer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rivera is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lumneer throwing strikes here but Rivera is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Lumneer tries to control but Rivera wriggling away.
Lumneer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rivera tries to hold on but Lumneer pushes him away.
Lumneer punching from mount but Rivera doing a good job of avoiding damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rod Lumneer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Lumneer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rivera's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rivera controls Lumneer momentarily but Lumneer frees himself.

Lumneer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Rivera is trying to get back to full guard.
Lumneer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Rivera tries to get to full guard but Lumneer has control of the leg.

Lumneer is looking for a kimura but Rivera is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lumneer to get the leverage.

Rivera is not content to let Lumneer control the position.
Rivera keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Lumneer passes to full mount!
Rivera tries to hold on but Lumneer pushes him away.

Lumneer looking to control but Rivera is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rivera tries to hold on but Lumneer postures up.
Lumneer thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Rivera tries to lock up and control but Lumneer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lumneer controlling the pace for now.
Rivera is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Aurelio Rivera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rod Lumneer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rod Lumneer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rivera is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Rod Lumneer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lumneer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
