A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Atkinson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Smith sprawls and moves away.

Atkinson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith is looking for a sweep.
Smith is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Atkinson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Smith avoids a strike by Atkinson and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Atkinson's guard! Fantastic escape!

Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
