Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pete Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brandon Alves!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves scores with a jab. Marquez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Marquez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Alves pushes Marquez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Marquez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Marquez trying to control the position but Alves is working away.
Marquez slows the pace down.

Marquez stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Alves moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That kick from Alves tenderised Marquez's leg. Marquez is trying to keep his angry face on.
Alves stuffs the takedown.

Alves lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Alves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Marquez on his heels. He'll look to pass Marquez's guard now, I'm sure.

Alves stands and steps away. Marquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Alves throws a leg kick but Marquez sees it coming and moves out of range.
As Alves tries to get set, Marquez tries to push him back and clinch up but Alves manages to avoid the attempt.
Alves throws a jab but it's blocked by Marquez.

Alves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alves lands in his opponent's guard.
Marquez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Alves controls the pace.

Marquez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Marquez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Alves passes into half guard.
Alves looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Alves works his way into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alves controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Alves.
Alves scores with a leg kick.
Marquez swings for the body but Alves moves out of range.
Marquez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alves sprawls well. Alves wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Marquez gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Marquez.

Alves sneaks out the side door and pushes Marquez away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Alves slaps away a takedown attempt from Marquez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Marquez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alves but Alves pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Alves is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pete Marquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alves stuffs the takedown.
No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Marquez dives in and grabs Alves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes down on Marquez's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Alves moves into the clinch.
Marquez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Alves to keep the fight standing.

Alves gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Alves winds up and cracks Marquez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Alves is looking to advance position but Marquez won't allow it.
Alves is controlling the pace.

Let's hope that Alves has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Marquez is trying to get back to full guard.
Alves has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Alves postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Marquez to stand up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marquez closes the distance and clinches up with Alves, looking for a takedown. Marquez pushes Alves against the cage but Alves circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Marquez shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Marquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As Marquez backs off Alves throws a huge counter combo but Marquez manages to avoid it all.
Marquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alves swivels and escapes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alves.
Marquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Alves lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marquez is looking to regain half guard here but Alves keeps moving and retains side control.

Alves has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Marquez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Marquez is keen to just control but Alves is a slippery customer.
Marquez prevents Alves from standing back up.

Brandon Alves is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Marquez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Brandon Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
