PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Point Dexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Because I Can (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dexter comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Point Dexter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Because I Can!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
I Can fails with an attempt to clinch.
I Can wants to clinch up but Dexter keeps it at a distance.
Dexter misses with a head kick.
I Can's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Dexter connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! I Can scrambles back to his feet.
A punch combination from I Can misses.
A big left from Dexter misses.

I Can has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dexter's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Dexter blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dexter gets underhooks to prevent I Can's takedown attempt.
Dexter tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I Can lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Dexter backwards.
Dexter fails to pull the fight into his guard.

I Can has clasped his hands together around Dexter's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

I Can is trying to get an arm triangle but Dexter is defending well.
Dexter parries the strikes from I Can easily there. I Can is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dexter to escape.
Dexter is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but I Can is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
I Can avoids the attempt from Dexter to control.
Dexter is trying desperately to improve position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

I Can goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dexter is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dexter is in close to I Can's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I Can tries to land a sweep but no joy.
I Can controlling Dexter's posture.
Dexter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

I Can working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dexter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dexter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now I Can is on top in guard.

I Can is looking to work some ground and pound but Dexter has wrist control.
Dexter looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

I Can drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and I Can jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
I Can sitting in guard here, content to control.
Dexter keeping moving, preventing I Can from controlling successfully.
Dexter controls I Can momentarily but I Can frees himself.
I Can trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
I Can is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
I Can wants to control from the top but Dexter keeps moving.
I Can pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dexter is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Because I Can dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dexter scores with a kick to the midsection.
Dexter moves out of range of the strikes.

I Can shoots in and gets a takedown into Dexter's guard.

Dexter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but I Can can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
I Can has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
I Can pushes down on Dexter's leg and manages to get into half guard.
I Can passes the guard and advances to mount!

I Can cracks Dexter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
I Can tries to control but Dexter wriggling away.

I Can has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dexter should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, I Can has tightened it up now! Dexter should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Because I Can! Because I Can retains his featherweight title!
A relieved looking Because I Can thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Point Dexter spoke after the fight, saying 'Next time,...... I'm still growing'.
