Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murray Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jackson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jackson avoids the body shot from Freeman.
It looked like Jackson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Freeman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jackson to the ground. Freeman is now in Jackson's guard.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Freeman is on top in guard.

Jackson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Freeman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jackson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Freeman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Freeman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Freeman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Freeman lands with a nice body kick.

Jackson misses with an uppercut. Freeman saw that one coming.

Freeman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jackson is trying to defend but Freeman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jackson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jackson.

A close round but Matt Freeman will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jackson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

A quick step to the side and Jackson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Freeman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Freeman persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Freeman is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Jackson moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
