Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell lands with a kick to the ribs.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liddell as he jumps to the side.

Liddell drives through and clinches with Jackson against the cage.

It looks like Quinton Jackson has been cut.

Jackson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Liddell is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jackson to the mat. Jackson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Liddell stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Let's hope that Liddell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Liddell gets to his feet - Jackson follows without any prompting.

Liddell feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Liddell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Liddell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

and Liddell counters with a leg kick.
Liddell scores with a kick to the midsection.

Liddell feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Liddell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Liddell stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Liddell drives through and clinches with Jackson against the cage.
Jackson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liddell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackson wants to stand and escape but instead Liddell has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

and Liddell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that.

Jackson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Liddell is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Liddell uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson.
