Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Py Stub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tom Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Py Stub!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stub shoots in and bounces Hewitt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Stub with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hewitt controls Stub momentarily but Stub frees himself.
Hewitt is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stub throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hewitt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stub is looking to stand up but Hewitt won't let him.
Hewitt looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stub has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stub tries to stand but Hewitt is controlling from the bottom.
Stub is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

It looks like Stub might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Stub looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Stub content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stub stops Hewitt from getting back to his feet.
Stub is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hewitt is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stub is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stub landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stub wants to stand but Hewitt has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Stub working Hewitt over with strikes.
Hewitt is looking to escape.
Stub is controlling the pace.

Stub is working for a kimura but Hewitt is defending it quite comfortably.
Stub stalling.
Hewitt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stub on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stub takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stub wants to stand up but Hewitt is controlling the position.
Stub lands strikes from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stub with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Py Stub dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hewitt wants to clinch up but Stub keeps it at a distance.
Stub misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hewitt went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hewitt checks a leg kick.
Stub has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Stub closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stub lands in his opponent's guard.
Stub content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Stub is in close to Hewitt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stub cracks Hewitt with a solid left hand.

Hewitt is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hewitt wants to stand but Stub is controlling the position.
Stub wants to stand but Hewitt has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Stub drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stub jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Stub wants to get up but he can't break Hewitt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hewitt is looking for a triangle but Stub pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Stub gets a takedown into half guard.
Stub performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Stub is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stub is taking a breather. Hewitt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Stub seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Hewitt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stub pulls his head out easily.
Stub lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Hewitt wants to get back to his feet.
Stub is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Hewitt manages to get to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hewitt can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stub controls the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stub wants to get up but he can't break Hewitt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A head kick misses from Hewitt.

Stub closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Py Stub showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Let's hope that Stub has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Stub is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hewitt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stub.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stub is continuing to stall.
Hewitt trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Hewitt's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Stub stands up from mount. Strange move.

Stub fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hewitt, pushing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stub gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hewitt regains guard.
Stub is standing up over Hewitt. Hewitt looks to escape but Stub dives into side control.

Stub advances to full mount.
Stub takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Stub swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hewitt is now in Stub's guard. A big mistake from Stub there, giving up the dominant position!
Stub has his hands on Hewitt's head, controlling the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stub can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stub's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Stub has an active guard here but Hewitt has managed to pass into half guard.
Stub controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Py Stub comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stub has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
