Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Fretwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Oneil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fretwell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Oneil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fretwell.
Fretwell blocks a head kick by Oneil.
Fretwell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed right hand from Oneil misses the target.

and Oneil counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Oneil.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fretwell jumps guard but Oneil stands there with Fretwell around his waist. Fretwell gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That kick from Oneil tenderised Fretwell's leg. Fretwell is trying to keep his angry face on.
Oneil throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Fretwell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Oneil as he jumps to the side.

Fretwell is looking to counter the offense by Oneil and move into the clinch.
Oneil has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
A decent looking cross lands there for Oneil.

Oneil moves in looking to clinch but Fretwell pushes him off.
Oneil throws an overhand right that lands on Fretwell's shoulder, as Fretwell tries to avoid the shot.
Fretwell wants to clinch up but Oneil keeps it at a distance.
Oneil is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Fretwell darts in looking for a takedown but Oneil gets double underhooks and turns Fretwell into the cage.
Fretwell tries to bum rush Oneil with a series of wild strikes but Oneil uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oneil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fretwell dives in for a single leg takedown but Oneil sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Oneil counters with a nice uppercut.
Oneil connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fretwell momentarily.

Fretwell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Fretwell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oneil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fretwell won't allow Oneil to sweep him here.
Oneil is pulling down on Fretwell's head to control his posture.
Fretwell pushes down on Oneil's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Oneil is looking to improve his position.
Oneil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fretwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Oneil wants to sweep but Fretwell has passed to side control!
Fretwell wants to control but Oneil is keeping him busy.
Fretwell lands an elbow.

Oneil trying to control but Fretwell flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Fretwell tries to get the hooks in deep but Oneil pushed the leg off.

Fretwell is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Oneil knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Oneil for a finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fretwell is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Oneil is defending well though. Fretwell let's go of the attempt for now.

Fretwell doesn't have the hooks in and Oneil manages to turn into his guard.
Fretwell seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Oneil is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fretwell is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Oneil to keep the fight standing.

Fretwell has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Oneil regains guard immediately.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A cross from Oneil lands.

Fretwell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oneil was covering up waiting for the punch and Fretwell finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fretwell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fretwell pushes a forearm under Oneil's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Oneil is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
