Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maynard Atkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by James.
It looks like Maynard Atkinson has been cut.
James looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Atkinson pushes James off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
James closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Atkinson quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James not doing much here.
Atkinson has his hands clasped together around James's back. He's all about the action.
James slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Atkinson wants to control but James is keeping busy.
James working the head and body with strikes.
Atkinson is rocked!
James is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Oh Atkinson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
James tries to pass to full mount but Atkinson defends it.
Atkinson seems to have got his legs back now.
Atkinson trying to control but James postures up.
James perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
James looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Atkinson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Atkinson is trying to stand up here but James is controlling him well.
James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Atkinson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
James working over Atkinson with some ground and pound. Atkinson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Atkinson trying to control but James postures up.
James lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Atkinson! More strikes land and this one is all over! James jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
