The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malloy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Loco swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Malloy is fighting off a takedown attempt but Loco is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Malloy to the mat. Malloy regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malloy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Malloy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Loco working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Malloy's head.
Malloy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Loco. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Loco content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Malloy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Loco is one step ahead there.

Malloy connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
