Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jude Mathis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Smashmaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smashmaster closes the distance looking to clinch

and Mathis counters with a shoot takedown. Smashmaster fights it but they end up in guard.
Smashmaster wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mathis manages to pass to side control.

Smashmaster is trying to control but can't.
Mathis takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mathis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smashmaster is just riding it out for now. Mathis eventually gives up the hold.
Smashmaster is looking to get back to full guard here but Mathis has managed to pass to side control instead.

Mathis decides to stand back up.
Smashmaster wants to clinch

and Mathis counters with a single leg into guard. Smashmaster didn't expect that.

Mathis stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Smashmaster wants to clinch.
It looked like Mathis was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Smashmaster throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mathis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mathis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smashmaster lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Mathis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mathis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Smashmaster content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Mathis has locked up a guillotine! Mathis's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Smashmaster is holding on here and Mathis must be using up a lot of energy. Smashmaster has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Mathis gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
