Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Flaherty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryan Gillen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flaherty gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gillen.
Gillen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gillen tries to bum rush Flaherty with a series of wild strikes but Flaherty uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gillen swats away the attempt to clinch by Flaherty.
A little jabbing left from Gillen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Flaherty takes one on the button.
Gillen throws a series of punches but Flaherty avoids them all with ease.
Flaherty showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gillen.
Flaherty takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Flaherty on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Flaherty looks for a takedown but Gillen sprawls well.
Flaherty closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gillen circles away.
Flaherty shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gillen pinned against the cage. Gillen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

We've been hearing good reports from Flaherty's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Gillen is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Flaherty off. It looks like it's working - Flaherty slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Gillen displaying calm under pressure there.

Flaherty takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gillen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Flaherty as he avoids it easily.

Flaherty tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gillen smiles and moves away.

Gillen throws a right hand that Flaherty ducks under and follows up with a left that Flaherty also avoids with ease.
Flaherty jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Gillen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Flaherty circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from Gillen does no damage.

Gillen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Flaherty to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gillen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Flaherty manages to pass to side control.

Gillen is trying to stand up here but Flaherty is controlling him well.
