PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jospeh Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nols Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jospeh Perry has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jospeh Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nols Wolf!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Perry throws a good cross that connects.
Perry thuds a left hand into Wolf's body.
Wolf looks to land a combination but Perry avoids it well.
Wolf throws a lazy right hand but Perry sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Wolf rushes Perry and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wolf is trying to break the clinch but Perry has him pressed against the cage.
Perry is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wolf to keep the fight standing.

Wolf has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Perry is trying to keep an underhook but Wolf manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Perry tries to kick Wolf off in order to stand up. Wolf Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wolf is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perry struggling a bit here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wolf trying to control the position but Perry is working away.
Wolf advances to full mount.
Perry tries to hold on but Wolf pushes him away.
Wolf trying to control but Perry is having none of it.
Wolf sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Perry is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wolf with shots to the head and body - Perry looks very uncomfortable down there.

Wolf looking to secure an arm triangle but Perry defends it well.
Wolf wants to control the pace but Perry is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wolf tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Wolf is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Wolf swats away the attempt to clinch by Perry.
Perry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wolf swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Perry moves into the clinch.
Wolf is trying to push Perry away but Perry has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Perry is trying to stall.
Wolf tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Perry misses with a punch on the inside.
Perry lands with a light punch inside.
Perry misses with a short punch on the inside.
Perry jumps guard but Wolf stands there with Perry around his waist. Perry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Perry swings wildly with an uppercut but Wolf uses good head movement to avoid it.
Perry tries to pull guard but Wolf holds him up against the cage and eventually Perry drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jospeh Perry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wolf wants the takedown. Perry is fighting it off but Wolf persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Perry's guard against the cage.
Perry wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Wolf manages to pass to side control.

Wolf tries to pass the half guard into mount. Perry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nols Wolf dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Wolf gets a clinch.
Wolf wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Perry has him pressed against the cage.

Wolf pulls guard.
Wolf is adopting a defensive guard.
Wolf is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Perry is looking to stand up but Wolf won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wolf pulls Perry in to control the position.
Wolf wants to stand up but Perry is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wolf is looking for a triangle but Perry pushes his legs off easily.
Perry wants to stand but Wolf is controlling his posture from full guard.
Nols Wolf has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wolf is striking off his back. Perry thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wolf regains full guard. Nicely done.
Perry has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wolf is proving hard to escape from.
Wolf wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Wolf moves into range and clinches up with Perry.
Perry wants to take the fight to the mat but Wolf manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Wolf pulls guard successfully.

Wolf looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Perry passes into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Wolf's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Perry goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wolf rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Perry's guard! Nice work there by Wolf!
Wolf wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Wolf postures up in Perry's guard and throws a big left but Perry blocks it.
Wolf trying to control but Perry is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Perry isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wolf stacks Perry on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wolf!
Perry can't do much from the bottom here.

Wolf is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Perry knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wolf has an Americana. Perry didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Wolf is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Wolf hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Nols Wolf!
