Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Wick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nick Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wick throws a head kick but Kennedy moves out of range.
And Kennedy tries to counter it with a takedown but Wick pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Wick throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kennedy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kennedy gets tackled into the cage by Wick. Wick maintains the clinch.
Wick breaks from the clinch.
Kennedy takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wick throws a combination. Kennedy tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Nick Kennedy has been cut.
Wick clinches up against the cage.
Wick tries a knee to the head but Kennedy blocks it.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Wick.
Kennedy wants to break free but Wick has control.
Wick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kennedy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A short left from Wick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wick with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Kennedy on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kennedy jumps guard and drags Wick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kennedy tries to strike from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kennedy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kennedy prevents Wick from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wick wants to get back to full guard.
Kennedy is looking for a kimura here.
Kennedy throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wick is trying to control but can't.
Kennedy is pressing down on Wick's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wick is holding on for now.
Wick tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wick is trying to get back to full guard.
Kennedy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kennedy has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wick defend it? Kennedy steps over the head and cranks it - Wick is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kennedy!
