Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Part (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brayan Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brayan Fernandez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Part!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brayan Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Part stuffs the takedown attempt from Fernandez. Fernandez gets slowly back to his feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Part.
Chris Part seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Part clinches with his opponent.
Fernandez misses with the head strike.

Part breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fernandez ducks under a wild hook from Part.
Fernandez avoids a kick to the body.
Fernandez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Part closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fernandez did well to prevent Part getting side control.
Still in half guard, Part seems content to control.
Part not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Fernandez wants to control but Part passes into side.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
You can see the frustration on Fernandez's face as Part controls the position.
Fernandez can't do much from the bottom here.
Part works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Part is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fernandez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Part is staying tight to Fernandez's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Part decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Part lands a damaging elbow.
Part lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Fernandez gets control of Part's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fernandez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Fernandez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Part doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Part manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Part slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Fernandez controls Part momentarily but Part frees himself.
Part controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fernandez shoots in for a takedown but Part shows good takedown defense.
Part throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Part throws the kick towards the body but Fernandez avoids it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Part lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Part is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fernandez can do to turn this around?

Fernandez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Part is defending well.
Chris Part has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brayan Fernandez.

Part has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Fernandez regains guard immediately.
Part is stalling in the full guard.
Fernandez has his hands on Part's head, controlling the position.

Fernandez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Part is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fernandez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Part moves into the clinch successfully.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Part obliges.

Part misses with a series of wild punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Part escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fernandez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Part to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Part seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Part wants to pass the guard but Fernandez is keeping the position.

Part not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Part stands up from Fernandez's guard - Part perhaps looking for a knockout.

Part looking to score a takedown here. Fernandez is defending well but Part drives through and ends up in Fernandez's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Part wants to get up but he can't break Fernandez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Part is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Fernandez looks for a takedown but Part sprawls well.
Part went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Part shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fernandez's guard.
Chris Part overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Part showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Part's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Part blocks the strikes from Fernandez.
Part is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Fernandez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Part in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Part is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Fernandez is looking to reverse the position.
Part just content to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Both fighters circling a little - Part finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Part shoots in and gets a takedown into Fernandez's guard.

Part has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Chris Part is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Part has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
