PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Errol Valencia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Basilisk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Errol Valencia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Basilisk!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basilisk fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Valencia avoids it really well and circles away.
Valencia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Basilisk.
Basilisk goes for a double leg but Valencia avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valencia continues to drive forward.
Errol Valencia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Basilisk.

Basilisk closes the distance and pushes Valencia back into the cage.
Valencia stalling in the clinch but Basilisk improves position.
Valencia misses with a knee strike.

Basilisk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Valencia tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Valencia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Basilisk walks away with a smile on his face. Valencia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Basilisk shoots in for a takedown but Valencia shows good takedown defense.
Valencia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Valencia is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Valencia struggles to land a body shot inside as Basilisk controls his hands.
Basilisk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Valencia is looking to control Basilisk's arms but Basilisk gets an underhook and turns him. Now Valencia has his back to the cage.
Basilisk tries to pull guard but Valencia holds him up against the cage and eventually Basilisk drops back down to his feet.
Valencia is pushing Basilisk up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
