Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frankie Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Diogo Lopes!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riggs gets caught napping as Lopes dives in and scores a takedown. Riggs manages to retain guard.
Lopes trying to control the position from guard on top but Riggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lopes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lopes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riggs wants to sweep but no luck.
Riggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lopes on the ground.
Lopes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Lopes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riggs keeping moving, preventing Lopes from controlling successfully.

Lopes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Riggs, up you get!

Riggs closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Riggs lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lopes manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lopes has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Riggs uses from the top position.

Lopes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Riggs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Riggs is posturing up here but Lopes has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Riggs tries to roll out but it's too tight and Riggs has to tap! Slick submission there by Lopes!
