Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fred Alsop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whitey Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fred Alsop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Whitey Ford!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alsop bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ford looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ford throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Alsop tries to counter by clinching up but Ford breaks away and moves out of range.
Alsop fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Ford is out of range.
A little jabbing left from Ford on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ford moves away from the strike by Alsop.
Ford tries to clinch but Alsop is having none of it.
Ford takes a swing at Alsop's ribcage but misses.
Ford throws a body punch but Alsop moves out of range.
Alsop has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Ford misses with a two punch combination.
A jab from Ford misses.
Nice uppercut there from Alsop.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ford misses with a straight left.
Ford throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alsop tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ford manages to circle out of the way.
Alsop connects with a single shot there.
Ford takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ford throws out a loose jab but Alsop uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ford throws a right and a left that Alsop avoids nicely.
As Ford tries to get set, Alsop tries to push him back and clinch up but Ford manages to avoid the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ford lands with a cross.
Ford throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alsop dodges the punch combination from Ford.
A little feinted left hand from Alsop on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ford misses with a wild body shot.
Ford swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Alsop. Ford does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ford misses with a series of wild punches.
The fighters circle momentarily. Alsop darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Whitey Ford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ford rushes Alsop and presses him up against the cage.

Alsop has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ford uses from the top position.

Alsop working for a triangle but Ford defends it easily.
Alsop is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Alsop looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ford wants to control from the top but Alsop keeps moving.

Alsop throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alsop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ford is looking to work some ground and pound but Alsop has wrist control.
Ford is looking to stand up but Alsop won't let him.

Alsop had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ford defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ford got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alsop has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ford has managed to get both his arms back between Alsop's legs - danger averted.

Alsop looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Ford is defending well. Alsop quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Ford has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Alsop celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fred Alsop!
During a confident post fight interview, Fred Alsop thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
In defeat, Whitey Ford stepped up to the mic, saying 'I will be back!!'.
