PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Morgan Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Morgan Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paddy McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reyes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McDonald on his heels. He'll look to pass McDonald's guard now, I'm sure.
Reyes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McDonald looks winded!
McDonald is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Reyes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McDonald doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Reyes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reyes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Reyes thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Reyes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Reyes lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as McDonald backs up against the cage.
Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown but McDonald manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reyes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Reyes shoots for a double leg takedown but McDonald sprawls well. He's pushed Reyes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McDonald looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Reyes looks for a takedown but McDonald sprawls well.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

McDonald rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reyes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A nice side step and McDonald releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Reyes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McDonald's waist but McDonald gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reyes off to one side.
As Reyes backs off McDonald throws a huge counter combo but Reyes manages to avoid it all.

Reyes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Reyes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McDonald cracks Reyes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
McDonald fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reyes manages to avoid it.
Reyes was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
McDonald slaps away a takedown attempt from Reyes, before circling back to the center of the mat.

McDonald scores with a hook to the body. Reyes takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Reyes tries to clinch there but McDonald circles away.

Reyes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Reyes lands a nice knee to the body.
Reyes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McDonald to keep the fight standing.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Reyes drops down looking for an ankle pick but McDonald pulls his leg out and moves away.
McDonald avoids the body shot from Reyes.
McDonald connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Reyes momentarily.
Reyes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McDonald can do to turn this around?
Reyes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McDonald throws out the jab.

Reyes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McDonald's guard.

McDonald is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

I think Reyes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
