PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Brezlav (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Igor Brezlav told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keith Ray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Igor Brezlav!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ray fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brezlav, pushing him back against the cage.
Brezlav is trying to pull guard but Ray has him pressed against the cage.
Ray pushes Brezlav back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A body shot lands from Ray.
Nice body punch from Ray.
Brezlav changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ray fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Ray instigates a clinch.
Nice body punch from Ray.
Brezlav looks winded!
Ray lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Brezlav backwards.
A right handed body shot lands from Ray.
A right hook to the body lands for Ray.
Ray lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ray presses Brezlav against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Ray is looking to control Brezlav's arms but Brezlav gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ray has his back to the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A jab from Ray does it's job there.

Brezlav tries to keep at a distance but Ray has taken the fight into the clinch.
Brezlav changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ray fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Keith Ray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Brezlav.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ray slows down the pace here.

Brezlav manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Our spies down at at DiscoClub inform us that Brezlav has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ray trying to control but Brezlav is working from the bottom.

Brezlav looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ray trying to control the position from guard on top but Brezlav is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ray is sitting in close to Brezlav's body. Brezlav has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ray is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ray is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Brezlav.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Igor Brezlav!
