PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Tatarinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Vieira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vieira has chosen T.I. - Go get it as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergei Tatarinov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rafael Vieira!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatarinov throws out a loose jab but Vieira uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vieira checks a leg kick.

Tatarinov pushes Vieira up against the cage in a clinch.
Vieira tries to score a body lock takedown but Tatarinov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Tatarinov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vieira shoots in for a takedown but Tatarinov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tatarinov throws a low kick but Vieira moves out of range easily.
As Tatarinov backs off Vieira throws a huge counter combo but Tatarinov manages to avoid it all.
A cross from Tatarinov lands.
Vieira drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Vieira gets tackled into the cage by Tatarinov. Tatarinov maintains the clinch.

Tatarinov manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tatarinov throws the left hand but Vieira avoids the punch easily.
Tatarinov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vieira feints the counter takedown.
Vieira avoids the body shot from Tatarinov.
Tatarinov thuds a left hand into Vieira's body.
Tatarinov throws a leg kick

and Vieira counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Tatarinov preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Tatarinov pushes Vieira off but Vieira dives into side control.
Tatarinov struggling a bit here.
Vieira is looking to take a break and control but Tatarinov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vieira looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vieira remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Vieira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Vieira is trying to get an arm triangle but Tatarinov is defending well.
Tatarinov is trying to get back to his feet.
Tatarinov is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Highland Brawl Academy, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Vieira is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tatarinov's shoulder. That is not cool.
Tatarinov tries to escape but Vieira is in control.
Tatarinov is not content to let Vieira control the position.
You can see the frustration on Tatarinov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vieira is working to tighten his grip on Tatarinov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tatarinov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vieira is really squeezing tight and eventually Tatarinov passes out! Vieira breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

A less than humble Rafael Vieira misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
