Flannery comes to the cage accompanied by Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishii fails with the takedown.
It looked like Flannery was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ishii.
Desmond Flannery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ishii drives through and clinches with Flannery against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Flannery's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Flannery tries to circle away but Ishii has him pinned against the cage.
Ishii keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Flannery's efforts to push away.

Flannery manages to break the clinch.
Flannery misses with the combination.
Flannery digs a good hook to Ishii's body.
Flannery fails to land with a series of punches.
Ishii is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Flannery moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flannery throws a front kick aimed at Ishii's knee but Ishii avoids it well.
Ishii uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Flannery.

and Ishii counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ishii content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Flannery has locked up a guillotine! Flannery's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Ishii is holding on here and Flannery must be using up a lot of energy. Ishii has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Flannery gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
