PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Fistface (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimura comes to the cage accompanied by Seek and Destroy . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Fistface!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Steve Erwin and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fistface sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kimura somewhat.
Fistface swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Fistface scores with the left hand. Kimura knows he should have avoided that one.
Fistface throws a series of punches but Kimura avoids them all with ease.
Fistface scores with a jab.
Fistface will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kimura goes for a double leg but Fistface avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Fistface continues to drive forward.

Fistface gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kimura drops back looking for a leg! Fistface is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fistface manages to kick Kimura off! Kimura jumps back into Fistface's guard.
Fistface wants to stand up but Kimura is controlling him.

Kimura is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kimura postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fistface is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kimura, into his guard.


Kimura is working an open guard so Fistface takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kimura drives through with a takedown into Fistface's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Kimura drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Fistface dives on top into guard.

Fistface lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kimura drives through with a takedown into Fistface's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kimura drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fistface looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fistface looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fistface!

Fistface has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Kimura swings around for an armbar but Fistface sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kimura's guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Kimura's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Horrible takedown attempt by Kimura or perhaps it was just good defense by Fistface, which made it look bad.

Kimura closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fistface to the mat! Fistface manages to get full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fistface drops Kimura with a right and a left! Fistface comes rushing in but Kimura regains his composure and manages to keep Fistface in guard.

Fistface's corner calls for a 1-2. Fistface obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kimura is defended easily by Fistface.

Fistface has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kimura darts in looking for a takedown but Fistface gets double underhooks and turns Kimura into the cage.
Fistface uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kimura has time to react.
Fistface misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big right followed by a crushing left from Fistface knocks Kimura out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Matt Fistface!
A relieved looking Matt Fistface thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
