Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Butts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeganathan Mondero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Butts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeganathan Mondero!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butts fails to land the takedown.

Mondero closes the distance and clinches.

Butts drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mondero pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mondero tries to close the distance and clinch but Butts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Butts. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Butts counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mondero won't be happy with that.

Butts closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mondero to the mat! Mondero manages to get full guard.

Butts throws and elbow that misses. Mondero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Butts's guard. Nice move by Mondero!

Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Butts is striking off his back. Mondero thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mondero perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mondero seems to be working for a kimura but Butts defends the submission attempt.
Butts tries to roll over but Mondero keeps him under control.

Butts might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mondero closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mondero lands in his opponent's guard.

Mondero decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ed Butts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Butts closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mondero can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Butts is looking to escape.

Mondero looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Butts is trying desperately to improve position.

Mondero gets caught flat footed, as Butts shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Butts is in close to Mondero's body, working some short punches and elbows.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Butts accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Butts connects with a nice short shot to Mondero's temple.

Mondero decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Butts fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mondero sprawls well initially but Butts persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Butts is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Butts looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mondero with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mondero has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Butts uses from the top position.

Butts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mondero on the ground.
