Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Schmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Schmo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Joe Schmo has been cut.

Schmo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mercer on his heels. He'll look to pass Mercer's guard now, I'm sure.
Mercer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Schmo controlling from the top position.
Mercer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Schmo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Schmo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mercer is wriggling around but Schmo manages to pass to half guard.

Mercer is trying to stand up here but Schmo is controlling him well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Schmo lands a nice short elbow.
Schmo is taking a breather. Mercer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Schmo prevents Mercer from standing back up.

Schmo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Schmo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mercer's head.
Schmo is nestled in close to Mercer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mercer manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Schmo feints and as Mercer raises his hands in defense, Schmo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Schmo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Schmo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mercer takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mercer on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Schmo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schmo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mercer is pushing Schmo's head away, looking to escape. Schmo manages to hold on to the position though.

Schmo tries for a kimura but Mercer is defending well.

Schmo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mercer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Schmo's guard! Nice work there by Mercer!
Mercer wants to stand but Schmo is controlling his posture from full guard.
Schmo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mercer manages to get himself to full guard.

Schmo won't allow Mercer to get back to his feet.

Mercer is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Mercer has momentary wrist control but Schmo slips an elbow through the middle.
Schmo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mercer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Schmo asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Schmo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mercer quickly recovers to half guard.
Schmo thows a huge punch but Mercer dodges it nicely.
Mercer pushes Schmo off looking to stand but Schmo dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Schmo seems content to control.
Mercer is trying to stand.

Mercer manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Schmo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Schmo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mercer smiles and moves away.
Joe Schmo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mercer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mercer lands a head kick. Schmo smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Schmo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mercer to the mat! Mercer manages to get full guard.
Schmo is standing up over Mercer. Mercer looks to escape but Schmo dives into side control.

Mercer pushes Schmo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Schmo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Schmo is putting a hurting on Mercer here, landing some big shots from side control.
Mercer is pushing Schmo's head away, looking to escape. Schmo manages to hold on to the position though.

Schmo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mercer's shoulder. That is not cool.
Schmo lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Schmo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mercer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mercer explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

David Mercer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Mercer stops Schmo from passing to mount.
Schmo cracks Mercer with a big elbow.
Schmo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Mercer wants to get back to his feet.
Mercer tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Schmo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Schmo scoring with strikes but Mercer is staying in there.
Mercer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Schmo lands a heavy elbow.


Mercer is rocked!
Schmo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mercer can do to turn this around?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mercer is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Schmo unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Mercer wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Schmo celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
