Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patrick Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David White!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Crane is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. White is aware though and is defending well.
White controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Crane wants to control but White passes easily into half guard.
Crane trying to control here.
White is taking a breather. Crane says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Crane really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Crane controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Crane gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Crane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
White would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Crane has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes White off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
White circles away from the clinch attempt.
White throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Crane.

White shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than White was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Crane is trying to control White's posture but White avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

White stands up and beckons Crane to his feet.
White fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Crane tries to counter by clinching up but White breaks away and moves out of range.
David White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big right from White misses.
White looks winded!
White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crane as he jumps to the side.
White shoots for a double leg takedown but Crane sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Patrick Crane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David White.

Crane has closed the distance and engaged White in a clinch.
Crane trying to land knees to the body.
Crane jumps guard but White turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Crane tries to pull guard but White forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
White wants to get back to striking at distance but Crane won't allow it.
White has Crane pressed against the cage.
Crane tries to score a body lock takedown but White shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A head punch on the inside from Crane fails to land.
Crane fails to pull guard.
White fails to pull guard.
Crane jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as White walks away with a smile on his face. Crane gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

White moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Crane ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Crane no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Crane is pulling down on White's head. It's preventing any offense from White, at least for the moment.
Crane looking to hit a scissor sweep but White is one step ahead there.
Crane is trying to control the position but White postures up.

Crane throws his legs up looking for a submission but White uses it to pass to side control.
Crane is trying to control White's posture but White avoids it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David White will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


White tries a head kick but it misses.
White darts in looking for a takedown but Crane gets double underhooks and turns White into the cage.
Crane closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Crane pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nice sprawl there from White as Crane shoots in.
Crane tries to clinch there but White circles away.
A slapping leg kick lands for White.
White is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

White moves into the clinch.

White manages to break the clinch.
Crane shoots in but White avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Crane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

White drives through with a takedown into guard.

Crane has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. White doesn't defend quickly enough and Crane has managed to lock this one up! Can White escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Crane on a fantastic submission victory.
