Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dickie Crash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Artie DeVanzo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crash slips a jab and a cross from DeVanzo.
Crash throws a head kick that half lands.
We've been told by Crash's head coaches at Hey Steves Fight Shack that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
DeVanzo on the wrong end of a nice hook.
DeVanzo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
DeVanzo scores with a push kick.
DeVanzo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
DeVanzo clobbers Crash with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Crash throws a front kick aimed at DeVanzo's knee but DeVanzo avoids it well.
Crash throws a sloppy head kick and DeVanzo moves out of range easily.
DeVanzo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Crash defends it well.
DeVanzo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
DeVanzo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crash lands a right hook to the body.

DeVanzo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crash wants to control but DeVanzo is keeping busy.
DeVanzo wants to free his trapped foot but Crash is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Crash is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
DeVanzo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
DeVanzo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
DeVanzo prevents Crash from improving his position.
DeVanzo with the ground and pound but Crash uses the opportunity to regain guard.
DeVanzo looking to pass the guard.
DeVanzo lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Crash controls DeVanzo momentarily but DeVanzo frees himself.
Crash wants to control but DeVanzo passes easily into half guard.
DeVanzo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Still in half guard, DeVanzo seems content to control.
DeVanzo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Crash with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Crash trying to hold on to DeVanzo's head to control him but DeVanzo postures up.

Crash wants to get back to full guard.
DeVanzo content to control rather than advance.
DeVanzo is trying to control. Crash wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Crash is trying to maintain the position but DeVanzo is very close to passing his half guard.
Crash is controlling DeVanzo's trapped leg to prevent DeVanzo from advancing to side control.
DeVanzo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw DeVanzo working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Crash is trying to maintain the position but DeVanzo is very close to passing his half guard.
DeVanzo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Crash looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
DeVanzo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Crash has a hand on DeVanzo's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. DeVanzo takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Crash keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Crash tries to hold on but DeVanzo postures up.
Crash is wriggling around trying to escape.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Crash is rocked!
DeVanzo cracks Crash with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Artie DeVanzo!
After winning the bout, Artie DeVanzo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
