Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nik Small (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Marriott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marriott has chosen Bodies as his entrance music. Nik Small has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Nik Small!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Marriott!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Small throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marriott uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Small.
Small rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marriott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Small throws the left hand but Marriott avoids the punch easily.

Marriott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Marriott has eaten all the pies!

Marriott has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
A telegraphed right hand from Small misses the target.
Small takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Marriott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Small as he jumps to the side.
Marriott looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Nice takedown defense from Small. No joy for Marriott on that attempt.
A slow jab from Small misses its intended target.

Marriott clinches up against the cage.

Small pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Small is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Marriott counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Small is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marriott trying to control but Small is working from the bottom.

Marriott drops back looking for a leg! Small is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Small manages to kick Marriott off! Marriott jumps back into Small's guard.
Marriott trying to control the position from guard on top but Small is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Small utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Marriott wants to control from the top but Small keeps moving.
Small is trying to keep Marriott in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Marriott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nik Small has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Marriott.
Marriott throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Small takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Marriott moves in looking to clinch but Small pushes him off.
Marriott closes this distance looking for a takedown but Small circles away.

and Small takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nik Small seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Marriott counters with a single leg into guard. Small didn't expect that.

Small knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marriott on the ground.

Marriott is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Small tries to bench press Marriott off him but Marriott keeps the position.
Small on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Small tries to get out of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Small stops Marriott from passing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Marriott dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Marriott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Marriott is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Small has escaped the position, nice work there.

Small is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Marriott slows the pace down in half guard.
Marriott wants to stand but Small has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Marriott is trying to work for a kimura but Small is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marriott wants to take a breather but Small is having none of it.
Small wants to get back to his feet.

Marriott wants to free his trapped foot but Small is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Small throws a lazy right hand but Marriott sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Small waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Marriott.
Marriott misses with a two punch combination.
Marriott tries to close the distance and clinch but Small swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Small throws a left and a right that both miss
and Marriott counters with a leg kick.
Small throws a combination. Marriott tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Small throws a hook but Marriott avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Marriott fails with the takedown.
Small throws out a powerful jab.
Small scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Small misses with a two punch combination.
Marriott throws a series of punches but Small avoids them all with ease.
Marriott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Small swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Marriott counters with a nice double leg into side control. Small won't be happy with that.
Marriott creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Small sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Small tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
A lull in the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Marriott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Small will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Marriott tries to free his leg and advance position but Small is retaining full guard.
Marriott stays in close to Small's body and controls the position.

Marriott wanted to stand there but Small had control of the position.
Small wants to get back to his feet but Marriott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Marriott working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marriott throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marriott sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Small's guard.
Small tries to roll over but Marriott keeps him under control.

Marriott stands up out of the half guard.
Small lunges at Marriott with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Marriott's hand.
Marriott shoots in for a double leg but Small sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nik Small has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Marriott.

Small is looking for a sweep.

Marriott working the body and head with strikes.
Marriott in side control, throwing shots but Small defends.
Marriott gets to mount! Small was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Marriott lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Small is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Small wants to control but Marriott is having none of it.
Marriott lands a big shot there that rocks Small but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Marriott punishing his opponent with strikes.

Small has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

Jordan Marriott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Marriott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
