Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kostas Karelis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Hallava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karelis's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sail - AwolNation. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kostas Karelis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julius Hallava!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelis throws an off balance right hand
and Hallava counters with a nice body shot.
Hallava slips a jab from Karelis.
Hallava lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Hallava throws a half hearted mid kick.
Karelis connects with a body shot.
Hallava lands a right hook to the body.
Hallava swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Karelis clobbers Hallava with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


It looks like Julius Hallava has been cut.
Karelis on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hallava. Hallava obviously looking to wear him down.

Karelis forces Hallava back against the cage and clinches.
Karelis pushes Hallava back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Karelis.
Karelis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hallava or not.
Karelis throws a punch but it's blocked by Hallava.
I was talking to Karelis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karelis tries to throw a body punch but Hallava avoids it by throwing Karelis back against the cage.
Karelis working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Hallava is trying to force a seperation but Karelis has the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Karelis fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Karelis has a couple of punches blocked by Hallava.
Karelis misses with a punch on the inside.
Karelis connects with a nasty looking knee right to Hallava's face.
Karelis connects with a knee to the head.

Hallava manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Karelis misses with a punch on the inside.
Karelis misses with a short punch on the inside.
Hallava is trying to force a seperation but Karelis has the dominant position.
Karelis lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Hallava blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Karelis misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karelis keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hallava's efforts to push away.
Hallava wants to break free but Karelis has control.
Karelis utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Karelis misses with a hook from the clinch.
Karelis has a couple of punches blocked by Hallava.
Hallava blocks an uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hallava breaks from the clinch.
Karelis lands a jab to the nose.
A swing and a miss from Karelis.
Hallava appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Karelis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hallava paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Karelis closes the distance and clinches.
Karelis throws a knee to the head but misses.
Karelis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karelis lands a right hand.


Hallava is rocked!
Karelis lands a big right hand that drops Hallava! The killer instinct kicks in and Karelis finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Karelis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kostas Karelis!
