Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matti Laukanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxx Elorde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laukanen comes to the cage accompanied by Side Of A Bullet by Nickelback. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elorde throws a jab when Laukanen was well out of range.
Laukanen walks into a straight right hand from Elorde.
Laukanen tries to move into range but Elorde moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Elorde connects with a single shot there.
Laukanen shoots in for a takedown but Elorde shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Elorde. Laukanen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Elorde looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Elorde has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elorde lands a left and a right that send Laukanen crashing to the mat, dazed. Elorde thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Sloppy strikes from Elorde. Those never looked like landing.
It looked like Laukanen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Elorde fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Elorde lands a nice shot that snaps Laukanen's head back.
Oh Laukanen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

We've been told by Laukanen's head coaches at Westside Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Elorde rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laukanen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Elorde jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Elorde throws a body punch but Laukanen moves out of range.
Elorde has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Laukanen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Elorde thinking.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Laukanen.
Maxx Elorde is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Laukanen misses with a wild body shot.
Despite the aggression on Elorde's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Elorde connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Laukanen's hands.

Laukanen needs to keep his hands up - Elorde had a free shot at his head there.
