Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Mcdaniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luke Skycrawler!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Skycrawler shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Skycrawler was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Skycrawler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcdaniel, who protects the arm well.

Skycrawler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Skycrawler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Skycrawler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Skycrawler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skycrawler is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mcdaniel has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Skycrawler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcdaniel, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Mcdaniel's face as Skycrawler controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcdaniel regains half guard, as Skycrawler was trying to land strikes.
Mcdaniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Skycrawler not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Skycrawler content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Skycrawler working over Mcdaniel with some ground and pound. Mcdaniel looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Mcdaniel is looking for a sweep. Skycrawler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mcdaniel works his way to full guard. Good work.

Skycrawler is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcdaniel has wrist control.
Skycrawler lands a couple of elbows.
Skycrawler trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcdaniel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Skycrawler has gone for a leg lock! Mcdaniel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Skycrawler's guard.

Skycrawler wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Skycrawler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mcdaniel defends well.

Skycrawler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcdaniel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Skycrawler striking off his back but it's not causing Mcdaniel any problems.
Mcdaniel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Skycrawler has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mcdaniel is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Skycrawler.

Skycrawler is looking to regain half guard here but Mcdaniel keeps moving and retains side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Skycrawler can do anything to dispel that myth.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mcdaniel connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Skycrawler some visible discomfort.
Skycrawler is looking for a sweep.
Skycrawler is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mcdaniel off and has taken his back!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Skycrawler is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Skycrawler has managed to slip his arm under Mcdaniel's chin. This could be all over... yep, Mcdaniel is tapping out! Submission win for Skycrawler.
