Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Robertson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hannu Haapana!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haapana lands a nice leg kick that just misses Robertson's sensitive parts.
Robertson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Robertson misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Haapana to counter with a crisp jab.
Haapana lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Robertson circles away quickly and effectively.
Robertson throws a nice looking combination but Haapana bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Robertson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Haapana's waist but Haapana gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robertson off to one side.
Haapana moves into the clinch successfully.
Haapana lands with a short shot to the head.
Haapana lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Jake Robertson has been cut.
Robertson is trying to pull guard but Haapana has him pressed against the cage.
Haapana looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Robertson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Haapana is struggling to control the position.
Haapana lands an elbow just above Robertson 's eye.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Haapana is leaning against Robertson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Haapana rushes Robertson and presses him up against the cage.
Haapana is struggling to control the position.

Haapana misses with an elbow over the top.
Oh Robertson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Haapana pushes Robertson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Haapana breaks the clinch.
Haapana moves in close and cracks Robertson with a massive right hand! Robertson, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Haapana!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hannu Haapana!
Hannu Haapana is the new bantamweight champion!
A less than humble Hannu Haapana misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
