PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Hensley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Medvedev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergei Medvedev told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hensley avoids the head kick by Medvedev.
Medvedev is looking to clinch.
Hensley is looking to counter the offense by Medvedev and move into the clinch.

Medvedev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hensley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Medvedev is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Medvedev is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Medvedev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hensley's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Medvedev content to stall in guard here.
Hensley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hensley throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hensley misses with a takedown attempt - Medvedev sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sergei Medvedev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Medvedev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Medvedev shoots in and drives through. Hensley sprawls well.
Hensley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Medvedev throws a head kick but Hensley moves out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Medvedev lands with a right to the head.
Medvedev tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hensley avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hensley gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Medvedev regains guard.

Medvedev has his feet on Hensley's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Medvedev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hensley to the mat! Hensley manages to get full guard.

Hensley looking for a guillotine here but Medvedev defends easily.
Medvedev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Medvedev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hensley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hensley will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergei Medvedev dominated that round.
That's time! Hensley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Medvedev lands a left and a right that send Hensley crashing to the mat, dazed. Medvedev thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Hensley is rocked!

It looks like Christopher Hensley has been cut.
Hensley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Medvedev as he jumps to the side.
Oh Hensley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Medvedev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Medvedev, right into the meat.

Medvedev closes the distance looking for a takedown. Hensley stuffs it but Medvedev still has hold of him. Medvedev picks Hensley up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Medvedev slams Hensley to the floor and that's really hurt Hensley - he doesn't know where he is! Medvedev throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
