Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes to the cage accompanied by Pixies - Where is my mind?. Marcus Davis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marcus Davis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes clinches up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hughes.
Hughes fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Davis is looking to break free of the clinch but Hughes has double underhooks.
Hughes struggles to land a body shot inside as Davis controls his hands.
Hughes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Davis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Davis as Hughes tries to tie him up.
Davis working hard to break the clinch.
Hughes misses with a hook to the ribs.
A frustrated look appears on Davis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Davis avoids the elbow strike from Hughes, against the cage.

Davis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hughes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Davis to the mat. Davis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Davis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hughes off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hughes.
I was talking to Hughes's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hughes has Davis pressed against the cage, preventing Davis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Davis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Davis has had enough of the clinch but Hughes keeps him there for the moment.

Hughes breaks from the clinch.
Davis throws a right and a left that Hughes avoids nicely.
A punch combination from Davis misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Hughes misses its target.
A nice combination there by Davis.
A combination from Davis does no damage.
Jab by Davis.
Marcus Davis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Davis works Hughes's body with a nice hook.
Hughes tries to clinch there but Davis circles away.
Davis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hughes's corner calls for a 1-2. Hughes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Good exchange - Hughes coming out on top.
Hughes tries to clinch up.
It seemed like Davis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Davis has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Davis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hughes counters with a series of strikes. Davis will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hughes swings widly with a right hand

and Davis counters with a nice right hand that sends Hughes toppling to the canvas! Hughes scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Davis finish him?!


Hughes is rocked!
Hughes ducks into an uppercut from Davis and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marcus Davis!
In his post fight interview, Marcus Davis started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Joseph Hughes spoke after the fight, saying 'Thanks to everyone for coming out '.
