PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geoff Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RiiP RiiNG (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon comes to the cage accompanied by Hollywood undead. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Geoff Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, RiiP RiiNG!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gordon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says RiiNG as he avoids it easily.

RiiNG shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gordon's guard.
RiiNG thows a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as RiiNG accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gordon wants to sweep here but RiiNG controlling him for the moment.
RiiNG missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
RiiNG postures up.
RiiNG throws a strike but Gordon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
RiiNG wants to stand but Gordon is controlling the position.
Gordon wants to pass the guard but RiiNG is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gordon closes the distance and clinches.

RiiNG is trying to break the clinch but Gordon has him pressed against the cage.

Gordon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

RiiNG holds on, trying desperately to control.
RiiNG can't escape the position.
RiiNG really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gordon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

RiiNG tries to lock up and control but Gordon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

RiiNG is really stuck here.

RiiNG is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gordon gets his way!

RiiNG throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gordon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
RiiNG looking to sit in guard and control but Gordon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gordon is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gordon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

RiiNG has his foot on Gordon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gordon works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Geoff Gordon will probably get the nod.

RiiNG throws out a powerful jab.
Geoff Gordon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
An inside leg kick lands from Gordon.
RiiNG loads up on a big right hand but Gordon slips the punch.
RiiNG tries to close the distance and clinch but Gordon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

RiiNG lands a couple of elbows.

Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. RiiNG doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. RiiNG manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
RiiNG must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gordon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but RiiNG can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. RiiNG connects with a nice short shot to Gordon's temple.

Gordon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

RiiNG moves into range and clinches up with Gordon.
RiiNG tries to break the clinch but Gordon is controlling the position.

RiiNG escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
RiiNG is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

RiiP RiiNG has got the better of the ground game so far.
RiiNG tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
RiiNG can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gordon is looking to escape.

RiiP RiiNG showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


RiiNG shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gordon as he avoids it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

RiiNG stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gordon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

I would just about give that final round to RiiP RiiNG.
I think RiiNG has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
