Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Normand Dillon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fuji Kwanta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fuji Kwanta has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Normand Dillon's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Normand Dillon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fuji Kwanta!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dillon feints and as Kwanta raises his hands in defense, Dillon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kwanta preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dillon prevents Kwanta from getting back to his feet.
Dillon wants to stand but Kwanta is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kwanta controls Dillon momentarily but Dillon frees himself.
Kwanta has Dillon pulled in close to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dillon won't allow Kwanta to sweep him here.

Kwanta is looking for a triangle but Dillon pushes his legs off easily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kwanta holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kwanta closes the distance and clinches.
Dillon goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kwanta prevents it.
Dillon is trying to break free.

Dillon pulls Kwanta into guard.
Kwanta must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kwanta is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kwanta works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Dillon manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Kwanta wants to clinch.
A counter left hand to the body from Dillon misses its target.
Dillon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dillon throws a nice looking combination but Kwanta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kwanta moves into the clinch successfully.

Kwanta manages to pull guard.
Dillon wants to stand but Kwanta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kwanta pulls Dillon in close to prevent any damage.

Kwanta wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kwanta keeps trying to improve his position.

Kwanta working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dillon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dillon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dillon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dillon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kwanta's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dillon wants to get up but he can't break Kwanta's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kwanta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dillon is one step ahead there.
Dillon is looking to stand up but Kwanta won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Normand Dillon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kwanta wants to clinch up but Dillon keeps it at a distance.

Kwanta throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dillon was covering up waiting for the punch and Kwanta finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dillon wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kwanta manages to pass to side control.
Dillon throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dillon wants to get back to his feet.
Kwanta trying to advance position but Dillon counters by regaining guard.
Dillon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kwanta has his hands on Dillon's head, controlling the position.
Dillon wants to stand but Kwanta is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kwanta pulls Dillon in close to his closed guard and prevents Dillon from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dillon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kwanta is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dillon, into his guard.

Dillon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kwanta is controlling the pace.
Dillon is looking to escape.
Dillon tries to get to full guard but Kwanta has control of the leg.
Normand Dillon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dillon is looking to escape.

Kwanta looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kwanta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dillon keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kwanta circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kwanta counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dillon won't be happy with that.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kwanta goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dillon has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kwanta but great work by Dillon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Fuji Kwanta will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Kwanta closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kwanta tries to control but Dillon wriggling away.

Kwanta seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kwanta connects with a nice short shot to Dillon's temple.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dillon is looking to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kwanta seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Fuji Kwanta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kwanta throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
An attempted straight right counter from Dillon misses the target.

Kwanta gets a clinch.

Dillon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Dillon clinches.

Kwanta is trying to trip Dillon. He has hold of a leg but Dillon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kwanta persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kwanta wants to get up but he can't break Dillon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dillon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kwanta won't allow Dillon to get back to his feet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dillon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kwanta controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dillon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A head kick misses from Kwanta.
Dillon throws a sloppy head kick and Kwanta moves out of range easily.
As Dillon backs off Kwanta throws a huge counter combo but Dillon manages to avoid it all.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kwanta dives in and scores a takedown into Dillon's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kwanta seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fuji Kwanta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kwanta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
