The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sturtsil gets the takedown into side control.
Shields tries to improve position but can't.
Sturtsil is looking to take a break and control but Shields is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sturtsil looks up at the clock and then as Shields takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sturtsil smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Shields is looking for a sweep.
Shields takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Sturtsil lands a decent elbow from side control.
Sturtsil landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Sturtsil is chipping away with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sturtsil cracks Shields with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Shields tries to buck Sturtsil off but Sturtsil is having none of it.

Sturtsil has hold of Shields's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Shields tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Sturtsil cranks the arm and Shields screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Shields, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
