Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rey Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Santito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rey Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Junior Santito!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santito throws out a loose jab but Owens uses good head movement to avoid it.
It looked like Owens was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Santito swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Santito fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Santito throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Owens counters with a series of strikes. Santito will be more careful next time no doubt.

Santito gets a takedown into half guard.
Santito lands strikes from half guard.
Santito is taking a breather. Owens says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Santito has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Owens jumps guard but Santito stands there with Owens around his waist. Owens gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Santito's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Santito shoots in looking for a takedown but Owens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Santito's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Santito closes the distance but Owens moves to the side
and Owens counters with a nice uppercut.

Owens moves into the clinch.
Owens is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Santito pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Owens fails with an attempt to clinch.
Santito appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Owens gets tackled into the cage by Santito. Santito maintains the clinch.

Owens closes the distance and pushes Santito back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rey Owens dominated that round.
That's time! Owens's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Owens tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Santito defends well and Owens ends up having to push Santito into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Santito looks to throw a body kick
and Owens counters with a stiff right hand.
Owens ducks under a wild hook from Santito.
Owens throws a big counter combination but Santito scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Santito moves into range and clinches up with Owens.
Santito struggles to land a body shot inside as Owens controls his hands.
Santito tries to land knees in the clinch but Owens avoids the damage to the body.
Santito utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Owens is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Santito pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santito digs a right hand into Owens's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Owens's gas tank.
Owens is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rey Owens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santito works on Owens's body with a couple of short punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Santito goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Santito moves into range and clinches up with Owens.

Santito's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Owens avoids the elbow strike from Santito, against the cage.

Santito manages to break the clinch.
Santito feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Owens's calf.
Santito feints and then cracks Owens's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Owens down.

Santito closes the distance and pushes Owens back into the cage.

Santito pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Santito forces Owens back against the cage and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santito keeps control of Owens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Santito escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Santito fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owens, pushing him back against the cage.

Santito pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Santito has Owens up against the cage in a clinch.
Owens can't break the clinch.

Santito breaks from the clinch.

Santito gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Santito breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Santito bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Owens wants to get back to his feet.

Owens is trying to improve his position.
Santito controlling from side mount.
Santito advances nicely into full mount.
Santito trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Santito tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Owens regains half guard.
Santito wants to take a breather but Owens is having none of it.
Owens pushes Santito off looking to stand but Santito dives back in and keeps control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Santito in particular looking to stall.
Santito's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Santito showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Owens looks to clinch

and Santito decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Owens's guard.

Santito throws a sloppy strike and Owens has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Santito is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Owens!
