Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ken Yoshida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ken Yoshida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Bob!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bob darts in and clinches Yoshida up against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Yoshida.
Bob crunches a lovely knee into Yoshida's ribcage.
Bob tries for a takedown but Yoshida manages to get underhooks.
Yoshida wants to break free but Bob has control.
Bob content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Yoshida tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bob tries for a takedown but Yoshida manages to get underhooks.
Yoshida controlling the action here for a moment.
Bob prevents Yoshida from breaking the clinch.
Bob tries to land knees in the clinch but Yoshida avoids the damage to the body.

and Bob counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bob.
Yoshida manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bob manages to get himself to full guard.

Yoshida is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Yoshida is working for a submission of some sort.
Yoshida wants to take a breather but Bob is having none of it.
Bob looks like he's trying to stand up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yoshida trying to control the action but Bob is working from the bottom.
Yoshida perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Yoshida wants to free his trapped foot but Bob is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Yoshida is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Yoshida is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bob has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Yoshida throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bob can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bob is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Bob looks gassed!

Yoshida working for a guillotine from mount but Bob is in no mood to give up.
Yoshida can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bob is looking to escape.
Bob tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Yoshida throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Yoshida content just to control the position here.

Yoshida moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bob has worked his arm free - good work by Bob!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
You can see the frustration on Bob's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Yoshida lands a few punches from side control.

Yoshida working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The strikes coming from Yoshida are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Yoshida is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bob knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Yoshida looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Bob is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ken Yoshida will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Yoshida clinches but Bob breaks the clinch
and Bob counters with a three punch combo that has Yoshida backing up. Yoshida nods at Bob to acknowledge the strikes.
Yoshida stuffs the takedown.
Yoshida blocks the body kick.
Yoshida looks to clinch

and Bob decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Yoshida's guard.
Yoshida tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Yoshida looking for a guillotine here but Bob defends easily.
Yoshida bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bob's guard.
Yoshida distracts Bob with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bob is breathing heavily.

Yoshida thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Yoshida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bob has closed the distance and engaged Yoshida in a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bob.
Bob wants a takedown.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bob tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bob is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Yoshida gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Ken Yoshida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bob.

Bob breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yoshida tries to clinch

and Bob counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bob controls from within his opponent's guard.
Bob wants to pass the guard but Yoshida is keeping the position.
Bob would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

John Bob has got the better of the ground game so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Bob shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yoshida but Yoshida pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Yoshida is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bob has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bob avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Yoshida.

Bob dodges the ground and pound from Yoshida.

Yoshida thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bob wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Bob gets back to half guard.
Yoshida thows a huge punch but Bob dodges it nicely.

Yoshida is working for a submission of some sort.
Yoshida not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John Bob will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


A nice leg kick lands there from Bob.
Bob is looking to land body kicks.
Bob circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bob throws a nice looking combination but Yoshida bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bob shoots in and drives through. Yoshida sprawls well.
Bob shoots in but no luck this time.
Bob doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Yoshida holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ken Yoshida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bob.
Yoshida wants to break the clinch but can't.
Bob tries to break the clinch but Yoshida is controlling the position.
Yoshida lands a body shot in the clinch.
Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yoshida blocks a body shot from Bob.
Yoshida is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bob pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Yoshida misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bob.
Yoshida tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bob just stands there and leans against the cage.

Yoshida is looking to sinch up a triangle. Bob throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Yoshida's body to avoid the submission. Yoshida has instead reached around Bob's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Yoshida arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
