Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kees Flodder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Virgil Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kees Flodder!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Flodder momentarily.
Flodder throws a right and a left that Morgan avoids nicely.
Morgan appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Flodder lands a two punch combo.
Morgan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
It seemed like Flodder was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Virgil Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morgan dodges the punch combination from Flodder.
Morgan throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Flodder throws out a counter right but Morgan avoids it with no problem.
Flodder scores with a jab to the jaw.
Flodder takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Morgan moves into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Flodder escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Morgan thows a leg kick but Flodder checks it
and Morgan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Morgan closes the distance and clinches.

Morgan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Flodder has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Morgan attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Morgan goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Morgan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Flodder breaks from the clinch.
Morgan moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for Morgan.
Morgan slips a jab and a cross from Flodder.
Flodder pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Morgan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Flodder breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Morgan tests Flodder's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Morgan chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Flodder keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Morgan.

Morgan tries a head kick but it misses.

Morgan closes the distance and clinches.

Flodder has picked Morgan up - he's going for a ride! Flodder dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Flodder is trying to work for a kimura but Morgan is defending well.

Flodder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Morgan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Morgan trying to hold on to Flodder's head to control him but Flodder postures up.
Flodder wants to lay and pray for a moment but Morgan keeps working.

Flodder is trying to work for a kimura but Morgan is defending well.
Flodder prevents Morgan from improving his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Flodder wants to work for an arm triangle but Morgan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Flodder is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Morgan defends it well.

Flodder drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Morgan dives on top into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Virgil Morgan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Morgan counters with an outside leg kick.
Morgan feints and then cracks Flodder's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Flodder down.
Morgan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Flodder's sensitive parts.
Flodder blocks a jab.
Flodder swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Flodder checks a leg kick.
Morgan scores with a hook to the body. Flodder takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Flodder decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Morgan's guard.

Flodder is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Morgan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Morgan has escaped and now he's on top!

Flodder escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Morgan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Morgan is working Flodder over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Flodder has momentary wrist control but Morgan slips an elbow through the middle.
Morgan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Morgan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Flodder escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Morgan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Flodder looking for a guillotine here but Morgan defends easily.

Morgan postures up and lands a big shot to Flodder's brow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morgan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Morgan wants to control from the top but Flodder keeps moving.

Flodder looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Morgan works over Flodder with some ground and pound from guard.
Flodder wants to sweep here but Morgan controlling him for the moment.

Morgan digs a right hand underneath Flodder's ribcage. Flodder let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Morgan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Morgan moves into range and connects with a jab.
Flodder's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Morgan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Flodder lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Morgan lands a leg kick that knocks Flodder off balance momentarily.
Morgan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Morgan lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Morgan feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Flodder's calf.

Flodder tries to circle away but Morgan has him pinned against the cage.
Flodder changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Morgan fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Flodder unleashes a big counter combination but Morgan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Virgil Morgan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Flodder takes a kick to the side of the head.
Morgan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Flodder manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Morgan lands with a kick to the temple. Flodder shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Virgil Morgan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Morgan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
