Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kontio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kontio is in close to Northcutt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Northcutt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kontio might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kontio drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Northcutt dives on top into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kontio is on top in guard.

Kontio stays in close to Northcutt's body and controls the position.
Northcutt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Northcutt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kontio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kontio looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Kontio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kontio drops back looking for a leg! Northcutt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Northcutt manages to kick Kontio off! Kontio jumps back into Northcutt's guard.
Kontio sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Northcutt's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kontio is nestled in close to Northcutt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kontio is taking a breather. Northcutt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kontio working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Northcutt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kontio scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kontio seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Northcutt is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
