Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Porter Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Porter Myers has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Porter Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cole Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Myers is trying to defend but Taylor finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Taylor throws a strike but Myers avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Taylor is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Myers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Taylor stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Taylor has Myers up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Taylor works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Taylor controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Taylor gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Taylor throws a left and a right that both miss

and Myers counters by moving into the clinch.
Myers working aggressively here.
Taylor wants to break free but Myers has control.
Taylor is trying to break the clinch but Myers has him pressed against the cage.

Myers pulls guard effortlessly.
Taylor works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Myers is looking to control Taylor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Myers avoid being mounted?
Myers wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Taylor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Myers sees it coming and defends easily.
Taylor is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Myers is trying to control but Taylor manages to pass to mount!
Taylor wants to control the pace but Myers is squirming around nicely.
You get the feeling that Myers really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taylor can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Myers is looking to escape.
Taylor is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Taylor moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Myers has worked his arm free - good work by Myers!
Taylor misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Myers tries to escape but Taylor is in control.

Taylor decides to stand back up.

Taylor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Myers to the mat! Myers manages to get full guard.
Myers wants to get back to his feet but Taylor passes into half guard.

Taylor is stalling here. Myers is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Taylor seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Myers has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Myers in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Taylor misses with an elbow from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cole Taylor dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Taylor swats away the attempt to clinch by Myers.
Taylor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taylor throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Myers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Taylor tries to clinch up but Myers circles away and keeps his distance.
Taylor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick by Taylor misses
letting Myers counter with a right hand.

Myers tries to sprawl but Taylor drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor is trying to control. Myers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Taylor tries to pass the half guard into mount. Myers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Myers is refusing to be controlled, as Taylor sits in half guard.

Myers wants to stand back up but Taylor manages to pass into side control.

Myers explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Myers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Taylor. Taylor circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Taylor throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Myers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Taylor tries to clinch but Myers moves away
and Taylor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Taylor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Myers controls Taylor momentarily but Taylor frees himself.
Taylor looking to sit in guard and control but Myers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Myers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taylor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Myers is controlling him.

Taylor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Myers defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor is breathing heavily.
Taylor trying to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Myers content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Taylor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Taylor trying to strike off his back.
Taylor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Taylor manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Myers manages to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Myers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Taylor defends it easily.
Taylor throws a strike but Myers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Porter Myers dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Taylor misses with a right hand
and Myers counters with a body kick that stops Taylor in his tracks momentarily.
Taylor darts in trying to clinch
and Myers finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Taylor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Myers.
And Myers counters with a quick kick to the body but Taylor blocks it.

Taylor drives through with a takedown into Myers's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Taylor is standing up over Myers. Myers looks to escape but Taylor dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Myers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Taylor tries for a kimura but Myers is defending well.
Myers is pushing Taylor's head away, looking to escape. Taylor manages to hold on to the position though.

Taylor tries to advance to mount but Myers denies him.
Myers gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Myers trying to hold on to Taylor's head to control him but Taylor postures up.
Taylor stops Myers from getting back to his feet.
Myers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor is continuing to stall.
Taylor wants to stand up but Myers is controlling the position.
Taylor missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Myers scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Taylor tries to clinch but Myers is having none of it.
Myers drops down looking for a counter takedown but Taylor sprawls and moves away.

Myers moves into the clinch.

Taylor has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Myers is trying to keep an underhook but Taylor manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Myers makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Taylor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Porter Myers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Taylor tries a head kick but it misses.
Myers jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Taylor takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Myers lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Taylor drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Taylor trying to control the position but Myers is working away.
Myers tries to bench press Taylor off him but Taylor keeps the position.

Taylor stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Porter Myers showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Myers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
