The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Machida looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Machida is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Shady looking for submissions off his back.
Machida takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Shady is rocked!
Machida seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shady does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Machida throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Machida stands up from half guard.
Machida avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shady shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Machida but Machida pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shady shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed Shady's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Machida thuds a left hand into Shady's body.
Shady is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Machida shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Machida was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
