PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mac Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Cronos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronos has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mac Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Cronos!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson thuds his right hand into Cronos's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Cronos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jackson.

Cronos throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jackson on the side of the head.

Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cronos is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cronos in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cronos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jackson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jackson.
Cronos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

That was a close round but I would say that Mac Jackson will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
